The imposing heights of Mount Tamalpais and the Bolinas Ridge rise up to provide spectacular views as salty air from the Pacific rolls over the rooftops during a celebration at Breakers Café.

Stinson Beach Breakers Café was opened by two local brothers in 2009 in a building that has a long history in this little town nestled between the woods of Mount Tamalpais and the wide white ribbon of Stinson Beach. Known first as The Bungalow when it was built in the 1920s, it was a market and gas station until the 1980s, serving up ice-cream and sandwiches over the decades. After the town of Stinson Beach grew up around it, it briefly became a pizza place and then the Stinson Beach Grill in 1983. The owner of the Grill sold it to Sam and Augie Temer after nearly three decades, and they have entirely reinvented the restaurant to meet the needs of hungry locals and visitors!

Breakers Café serves breakfast and lunch all day every day, with counter service and plenty of tables both inside and outside,. Our range of Classic American food served with a Latin twist is the perfect solution for those who want to grab an affordable, filling meal with friends and family. Our menu details all our offerings, and we have daily specials, including local oysters when in season. We stay true to our location in West Marin, sourcing as many ingredients as possible from local, organic growers or from our kitchen garden, and we have been certified by Marin Organic for our farm-to-table commitment . We have a full bar license, so our flavorful food can also be paired with one of many beers on tap or with a Breakers Bloody Mary.

During the initial renovations, beautiful details of the old building that now houses Breakers Café were discovered. The one-time market was constructed of old-growth Mount Tamalpais redwood back when tourists still came over from San Francisco by ferry. Stripping away years of use also revealed a floor made of tongue-and-groove red fir. Refurbishments have complemented these original details, adding reclaimed raw redwood wainscoting, a wood-fired stove, and various counters and bars made from milled trees. These authentic features call to mind days past when Stinson Beach was first discovered. Our décor also captures Stinson Beach’s vibrant surf and swim culture, with flotsam and jetsam finds hung up as prizes on the walls alongside beloved family treasures (including a collection of grass-skirted dashboard hula dancers above our coffee nook). The unique, laid-back atmosphere of Stinson Beach is captured by the Breakers’ philosophy: No Shoes, No Shirt: We’ll serve you!
